How to Buy from Xianyu (闲鱼)
Xianyu (闲鱼, second-hand marketplace) is where a lot of rare, limited, and used rep pieces turn up - the stuff you can't find as a new listing on Taobao or Weidian. But buying it through an agent works differently: fewer agents support it, sellers are private individuals, and there are usually no returns. This guide walks through how it actually works.
What is Xianyu (闲鱼)?
Xianyu is Alibaba's second-hand C2C marketplace. Think of it as China's eBay: ordinary people sell used, new-old-stock, and limited items directly to each other. The web version is goofish.com; the mobile app is the main way people browse, and older links still live on 2.taobao.com or come as short share links on m.tb.cn.
Rep buyers care about Xianyu for two reasons. First, rare and limited items show up there when a production run is sold out on Taobao. Second, used items are cheaper - a pair that retailed at full price can be listed second-hand at a discount. The tradeoff is that you are buying from a person, not a store, so the rules of normal rep orders don't fully apply.
Risks of buying on Xianyu
Before you order, understand what makes Xianyu different from Taobao or Weidian:
- Individual sellers, not shops. There is no storefront reputation, no consistent QC, and no staff backing the listing.
- No returns or exchanges. Most Xianyu listings are sold as-is. Once it's bought, you can't send it back the way you would to a Taobao seller.
- The seller can renegotiate or refuse to ship. Xianyu lets sellers message buyers. They may ask for a higher price after you commit, or simply decline to send the item. Your agent then cancels and refunds you, but the order falls through.
- Bait-and-switch listings. A listing can show authentic or studio photos while the actual item is different, worn, or misdescribed. You have to verify condition yourself through photos.
- Condition is unknown until QC. A "like new" shoe may have worn soles, creases, or a missing box. You only see the real state when the agent takes photos.
How to find Xianyu items
You browse Xianyu in its app or on goofish.com. Search in Chinese for the item name, batch, or model, and use filters to narrow by price and condition. When you find a listing:
- Check the seller's rating and history. Look for a high sale count, good feedback, and other listings from the same seller. Avoid brand-new accounts with no history on a high-price item.
- Read the listing photos closely. Look for flaws, wear, or a different item than the one described.
- Copy the share link. Use the app's share button. It usually gives you a short m.tb.cn link or a goofish.com URL - either is what you hand to your agent.
- Ask the seller questions. If the flow allows it, confirm size, condition, and whether the box/tags are included before ordering.
How to order, agent by agent
Only three of the 18 agents in our converter support Xianyu, and two of those support it manually. Hoobuy and Hipobuy will also do Xianyu but only through a support request. The other 13 agents have no Xianyu support.
Superbuy
Direct one-click link - most structuredSuperbuy is the only agent with a direct Xianyu flow. Paste the goofish.com or Xianyu share URL and Superbuy places the order for you. It charges a flat ¥20 per order on top of the item price. There are no returns on Xianyu orders, and the seller may still message to renegotiate the price or refuse to ship; if that happens the order is cancelled and refunded. This is the smoothest way to try Xianyu.

Send them the link, the listing photos, and any notes (size, condition, price you expect) and their team buys it on your behalf. There is no service fee on this flow, but it is fully manual, so turnaround depends on support response time. Good if you want to save the ¥20 Superbuy fee and don't mind waiting.

Support request onlyNeither agent offers a self-serve Xianyu flow in the converter, but both will buy Xianyu items if you open a support request with the link and details. This is a manual order: you tell support what you want, they source and confirm the price with the seller before committing. Slower than Superbuy, but an option if you already use one of these agents for the rest of your haul.
The other 13 agents
CNFans, Kakobuy, ACBuy, Oopbuy, Allchinabuy, Ponybuy, LoveGoBuy, Sifubuy, CSSBuy, JoyaGoo, OrientDig, Loongbuy, and Spanbuy do not support Xianyu orders. Pasting a Xianyu link into their site will not work - pick one of the agents above for second-hand items.
QC tips for used items
Because Xianyu items are used and can't be returned, the QC photos from your agent are the only safety net. Ask for extra photos beyond the standard set:
- Shoes: close-ups of the soles (wear, yellowing, heel drag), toe box creasing, and the insole. Used pairs rarely look brand new - decide how much wear you accept before ordering.
- Stitching and logos: check for loose threads, faded prints, or misaligned logos that a studio listing photo hid.
- Tags and box: ask whether the original tags and box are included, and get a photo of them. A used listing without the box is worth less and should be priced accordingly.
- Measurements: for clothing, ask the agent to measure pit-to-pit and length. Second-hand sizing varies because items may have shrunk or stretched.
- Ask for extra shots. If the standard photos don't show a flaw you care about, request a reshoot before you give a GL. Once shipped internationally, it's too late.
Honest warnings
- Xianyu is riskier than Taobao. A normal Taobao store order has returns and seller accountability. Xianyu does not. Don't treat it like a storefront.
- Start small. Do one low-cost Xianyu order through Superbuy first to learn how the seller renegotiation and QC process feels, before spending on a grail.
- Use Superbuy for the most structured experience. The direct link and flat ¥20 fee remove guesswork. The manual flows (Sugargoo, CNShopper, Hoobuy, Hipobuy) are slower and depend on support.
- Confirm the price before it's committed. Xianyu sellers often negotiate. If the final price moves up, your agent will come back to you - decide quickly whether it's still worth it.
